Hydroponics Window Farm

This is an automated trickle-down irrigation system that I built to grow a small selection of herbs. The plants grow in stone-filled pots and derive their nutrients from the water that is pumped through at regular intervals. The idea is that plants grow faster because they spend more energy growing upwards, rather than growing roots to search for nutrients in the soil.

The custom-built frame was inspired by this picture that I found on Pinterest. A headless application running on a Raspberry Pi schedules the irrigation and the whole system can be monitored and controlled from a phone using a custom app running on the Blynk framework.
